For the Chicken:

  • 1 lb chicken breast (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Assembly:

  • 4 sandwich rolls (hoagie rolls or sub rolls)
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for toasting the rolls)

How to Make Chicken Cheese Steak Sandwiches:

Step 1: Cook the Chicken

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken and season with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
  4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.

Step 2: Sauté the Veggies

  1. In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers over medium heat.
  2. Season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the veggies are soft and caramelized.
  3. Add the cooked chicken back into the skillet with the veggies, mixing everything together.
