Description

These Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies are soft, chewy, and bursting with banana flavor! Made with simple ingredients, they’re a perfect way to use up ripe bananas while enjoying a delicious homemade treat. These cookies are a delightful mix between banana bread and classic chocolate chip cookies.


Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe banana, mashed (about ½ cup)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

 

  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients

  1. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in mashed banana, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  3. Fold in chocolate chips.

Step 4: Bake the Cookies

  1. Scoop about 1 ½ tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing cookies about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Use Ripe Bananas – The riper, the better for sweetness and flavor.
Don’t Overmix – Mix until just combined for a soft cookie.
Chill the Dough – If the dough feels too soft, chill for 30 minutes before baking.
Make Them Gluten-Free – Use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
