Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 lb crab meat, drained
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (use panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Cooking oil, for frying

For the dipping sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Crab and Shrimp Cakes

  1. In a large bowl, combine the crab meat and chopped shrimp.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix the ingredients until well combined. If the mixture is too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs until it holds together.
  4. Shape the mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.

Step 2: Fry the Cakes

  1. Heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the crab and shrimp cakes to the skillet, being careful not to overcrowd them.
  3. Cook the cakes for about 3-4 minutes per side or until they’re golden brown and crispy.
  4. Once cooked, transfer the cakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 3: Make the Dipping Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, hot sauce (if using), salt, and pepper.
  2. Stir until smooth and well combined.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Serve the crab and shrimp cakes warm with the dipping sauce on the side.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Serve with a side of mixed greens or a light salad.
  • Pair with roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce like tartar sauce or aioli.
