Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • lbs ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or pasta sauce

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 bag (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli (no need to thaw)

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese or cottage cheese

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped

  • Extra Parmesan for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes.
Drain excess fat, then add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
Stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 3–5 minutes.

Step 2: Layer in the Slow Cooker
Spray the inside of your Crockpot with non-stick spray.
Begin layering:

  1. Spread a small amount of meat sauce at the bottom.

  2. Add a layer of frozen ravioli.

  3. Spoon over some ricotta cheese.

  4. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan.

  5. Add more meat sauce.
Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a generous layer of sauce and cheese on top.

Step 3: Cook It Low and Slow
Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2.5–3 hours.
The ravioli should be tender, and the cheese melted and bubbly.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy
Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
Garnish with chopped parsley or basil and extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

Use Frozen Ravioli – They cook perfectly in the slow cooker and don’t get mushy.
Don’t Skip the Layers – Layering ensures each bite is packed with flavor.
Add Veggies – Try layering in spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for added nutrition.
Double the Cheese – Add extra mozzarella for even more gooey goodness.
Use Fresh Herbs – For an elevated flavor, add fresh basil or oregano near the end of cooking.
