  • Olive Oil (1 tbsp)
  • Onion (1 small, finely chopped)
  • Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
  • Crushed Tomatoes (1 can, 14 oz)
  • Tomato Paste (1 tbsp)
  • Italian Seasoning (1 tsp)
  • Red Pepper Flakes (¼ tsp, optional for spice)
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)
  • Mozzarella Cheese (1 cup, shredded)
  • Parmesan Cheese (¼ cup, grated)
  • Fresh Basil (¼ cup, chopped)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Tomato Sauce

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the onion for 2–3 minutes until soft, then add garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Add the Gnocchi

  1. Stir the uncooked gnocchi into the sauce, ensuring they are fully coated.

Step 3: Add Cheese & Bake

  1. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.
  2. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 15–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 4: Garnish & Serve

  1. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  2. Sprinkle fresh basil on top and serve warm!

Notes

  • No-Boil Gnocchi! – The gnocchi cook perfectly in the sauce, absorbing all the flavor.
  • Use Fresh Mozzarella – For extra creaminess, use fresh mozzarella slices instead of shredded.
  • Make it Meaty – Add cooked ground beef or sausage for a heartier dish.
  • Want More Veggies? – Stir in spinach, mushrooms, or roasted bell peppers.
