Ingredients

Scale

For the Fried Ravioli

  • 1 package (9–12 oz) refrigerated cheese ravioli
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 teaspoon vinegar)
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)

For the Marinara Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Breading Station

  1. Pour buttermilk into a shallow bowl.
  2. In another bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2: Coat the Ravioli

  1. Dip each ravioli into the buttermilk, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  2. Dredge in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to coat evenly.

Step 3: Fry the Ravioli

  1. In a large skillet, heat ½ inch of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the ravioli in batches for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 4: Make the Marinara Dipping Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add marinara sauce, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Garnish fried ravioli with chopped parsley and serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Use Fresh or Frozen Ravioli – If using frozen, thaw before breading.
Fry in Batches – Avoid overcrowding the pan for an even fry.
Keep Warm in the Oven – If making a large batch, keep fried ravioli in a 200°F (95°C) oven until serving.
