Ingredients
- All-Purpose Flour (1 ½ cups) – The base for the pancake batter.
- Baking Powder (1 tsp) – Helps the pancakes rise.
- Salt (¼ tsp) – Enhances the flavors.
- Sugar (2 tbsp) – Adds the right touch of sweetness.
- Eggs (2 large) – Binds the batter together.
- Milk (¾ cup) – Creates a smooth batter.
- Vanilla Extract (1 tsp) – Adds warmth and aroma.
- Apples (2 medium, peeled and thinly sliced) – Tart apples like Granny Smith work best.
- Cinnamon (½ tsp, optional) – For a warm, spiced flavor.
- Vegetable Oil (for frying) – Ensures crispy edges.
- Powdered Sugar (for dusting, optional) – A traditional topping.
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon (if using). In another bowl, beat the eggs, then mix in the milk and vanilla extract. Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
Step 2: Add the Apples
Gently fold in the thinly sliced apples to evenly coat them in the batter.
Step 3: Heat the Oil
Heat about 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Step 4: Cook the Pancakes
Spoon about ¼ cup of batter per pancake into the skillet. Flatten slightly with the back of a spoon. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
Step 5: Drain and Serve
Transfer cooked pancakes to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or serve with honey, jam, or yogurt.
Notes
- Use Tart Apples – They balance the sweetness.
- Don’t Overmix – Stir until just combined for fluffy pancakes.
- Cook Over Medium Heat – Prevents burning while ensuring a soft center.
- Drain on Paper Towels – Removes excess oil for the perfect texture.
